Assembly Elections 2026: Schedule Announced for Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 Legislative Assembly Election in five states and union territories – Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and Puducherry.

According to the election timetable released by the commission, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will go to the polls on April 9, 2026. Meanwhile, voters in Tamil Nadu will cast their votes on April 23, 2026.

The election process in West Bengal will take place in two phases. The first phase of polling will be conducted on April 23, 2026, while the second phase is scheduled for April 29, 2026.

The Election Commission of India also confirmed that the counting of votes will take place on May 4, 2026, when the results for all five states will be announced.

The announcement of the election schedule marks the beginning of the political campaign period in these regions. Major political parties are expected to intensify their preparations and outreach programs ahead of the elections.
